January 2022 Newsletter
From my heart, I wish you a happy and healthy 2022! The beginning of a new year gives many of us the opportunity to press some reset buttons for our health. Good intentions to work on healthier behavior, a better workout routine, more sleep, and a more nutritious diet are excellent New Year's resolutions. To be successful with weight loss goals, I often talk about Liver health to my clients.
The holidays are the time where we all indulge a little more. Heavier meals, a glass of wine, a cocktail, chocolate….
I would love to give you a few healthy tips to support your Liver either as a cleanse for the coming month or as lifestyle changes for 2022!

Happy New Year 2022 from Simplify

The Liver is our largest organ inside our body.
It helps digest food, store energy, and remove toxins.

There are many foods, herbs, and spices that will support a healthy Liver, like all bitter herbs. You could drink Dandelion Root tea regularly, eat more Arugula, Artichokes, Endives, Chicory, and Radicchio.

Turmeric
Turmeric and its active bioflavonoid curcumin have been used for thousands of years to protect the Liver, promote bile flow, and act as a potent anti-inflammatory. A dash added to soups, stews, or even a salad is delicious.

Beets
Beets have betaine, which helps the Liver cells clear toxins and protects the Liver and bile ducts from damage. Beets raw, roasted, or juiced are an excellent Liver supportive food.

Milk Thistle
Milk Thistle (as a tea, for example), with the active constituent silymarin, has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that support the liver. It may help the Liver repair itself by growing new cells.

Good fats are good for the Liver, bad fats are really bad for Liver health. Fried foods likely have unhealthy oxidized oils. Try to skip those. Stick to good quality healthy oils like Avocado oil, Salmon, Flaxseed oil, and an excellent quality Olive oil for cold use.

Lemon zest
Lemon zest has a phytonutrient called d-limonene that supports Liver detoxification enzymes. Either grate lemon peels from organic lemons or lime or puree the lemon peel in a blender. You could add it to dressings, or simply to water.

Try to reduce the toxins that you ingest by buying organic foods. Drink filtered water, use glass containers instead of plastic, and choose skin products with fewer toxic ingredients.

NAC Infrared sauna
Use your largest organ, your skin, as support for cleansing. Sweating in a sauna and bathing in Epsom salt are wonderful ways to add to your detoxification routine. Talk to the front desk staff at NAC about using the Infrared sauna!!

PatientOneFormula B-Complex Vitamins
B-Vitamins are critical for efficient Liver detoxification of unwanted chemicals. A high-quality B-complex is a great way to get enough B-vitamins.

Choline is an essential micronutrient. It helps transport triglycerides from the Liver. You can get it from Eggs and Avocados..

Your Liver really loves greens, especially herbs like Cilantro and Parsley. Add them to your soups and salads.

Skip late-night eating
Skip late-night eating!
The Liver regeneration cycle is between 11 PM and 3 AM. If your body is busy digesting foods at that time, it will disrupt your sleep and the detoxification process.

Cruciferous vegetables support the sulfation pathway (especially important to remove excess estrogens) with veggies like Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, and Bok choy.
