April 2015 Newsletter

When I traveled to New York City at the end of March, to the Integrative Healthcare Symposium, my husband, who is a Business Coach, asked me: "Silke, please think about your goals before you get to your conference." So I asked myself that question and decided, my goals were to meet like-minded people, learn a lot, and also find a tool to better help my clients.
One of the biggest topics I have studied over the last years, is Inflammation and the role that food plays in inflammatory conditions. I find this research fascinating and excitedly add foods to my long list that stand out with Anti-Inflammatory properties.
Inflammation is a crucial protective reaction; it protects us so that healing can take place. But chronic Inflammation is one of the final pathways for most of the common diseases.
What you eat can turn inflammation on, and what you eat can turn inflammation off.
But what about food choices, that affect us all differently, where our Bio-Individuality plays a role in how we react to certain foods, and might cause a low grade inflammatory response?
For example white sugar and white starches I believe, do not have a positive effect on anybody, but how do we know if the organic chicken or the raw unsalted organic almonds, have an inflammatory response in us?
I am so happy to share that I did find the tool that I was looking for, that will deliver the answers to all these questions!
I found a blood test, which tests Delayed Food Sensitivities. The FIT Test (Food Inflammation Test) by KBMO Diagnostics covers exactly the missing piece that I am simply not aware of and tests for sensitivity to 132 foods, additives, and extracts.
In order to do the test, please see me in my office inside NAC for any questions!

I am excited to announce that I collaborate with KBMO Diagnostics as their Holistic Nutrition Practitioner, which enables me to offer the FIT Test to all my clients under wonderful conditions!

What Eexactly Is the FIT Test (Food Inflammation Test)?

The FIT Test employs unique methods that detect both IgG Antibody and Immune Complexes together to determine the reactivity of each sample against a wide variety of food antigens. Measuring both, IgG and Immune Complexes together increases the sensitivity over other tests, which measure IgG alone.

The FIT Test measures the sensitivity to 132 foods, colorings, and additives spanning all major food groups:
Dairy Fish Vegetables
Grains Seeds Spices
Fruits Beans Microbial
Meats Fowls Additives
Nuts Shellfish Extracts

The report depicts the results for 132 foods from common food groups displayed in an easy to read color coded graph that shows the foods which cause the highest sensitivities. This easy to use, one-page graph of clearly listed foods will help my clients and their medical healthcare community with treatment options. Elimination of the most reactive foods is recommended to reduce and calm down the antibody response. It takes about 6-8 weeks to reach that goal, and after that a guided reintroduction will determine if the food choice is safe to eat occasionally. Depending on symptoms and reactions, another FIT Test is advised to prove the positive changes.

I am able to refer my clients to a doctor's office close by, for insurance coverage.
OR
My clients can receive the FIT test by paying $ 500 out of pocket.
The test can be administered by a nurse at NAC.

Measuring Food Sensitivities Using the Food Inflammation Test

Understanding Food Sensitivities:
Food Sensitivities and related diseases affect at least 100 million people worldwide and cause a wide variety of illnesses ranging from skin rashes, headaches, chronic sinusitis to chronic intestinal diseases. Any food antigen entering the bloodstream can produce symptoms associated with food sensitivities. The measurement of both IgG and Immune Complex containing C3d (IC-C3d) simultaneously is the key to assessing food sensitivities, and simultaneously generates twice the signal which improves the sensitivity over other tests, that measure only IgG.
The Food Inflammation Test (FIT Test) improves the Clinical Performance:
Patients/clients who reported a variety of symptoms were screened using the FIT test to determine which foods caused sensitivities. The foods, which tested positive, were removed from their diet, the patients were re-tested and the original symptoms were reviewed to determine if the patient felt better. A significant reduction in food sensitivities was observed and in many cases, the symptoms were reduced. This study demonstrates that food elimination based on the FIT Test reduces symptoms and is an effective tool in patient/client care.
Testimonials from Physicians, Nutritionists, and clients/patients:
"I believe this test should be part of all general health screens like a thyroid panel or cholesterol screening."
"I have suffered from IBS for years and after eliminating the foods identified by the test the symptoms disappeared."
"I have lost 25 pounds and feel like I have energy to do whatever I want to do."
"This is an amazing test and I will continue to use it for my clients/patients to heal subtle or profound health issues in their bodies."

Please stop by my office inside NAC for more information on the FIT Test!
