What Does ORAC Mean?
ORAC = oxygen, radical, absorption, capacity =
is a scientific measurement established by the USDA for calculating the effectiveness of a substance’s ability to rid the body of toxins. This tells us how much “bad” disease causing, free radical activity a healthy food can detoxify from our bodies. Unhealthy foods have none! The lowest healthy foods, such as grapefruit, measure in the 100’s. The healthiest foods, like wild blueberries and kidney beans measure in the 13,000 range, and the most powerful spices range as high as 260,000 per serving! Antioxidants are critical to good health, weight management and peak performance. You should consume foods with high ORAC values daily.
